The Denying the Inflammability of the Twigs Found in the Copse this Morning group exhibition is on at London’s3236RLS, opening October 13 and running to October 22.
The press release leaves little to be revealed, but instead includes an open-ended narrative that takes place “in a courtyard, on a mythical stage, understandable home-zone, home to the half rendered.”
The free event and three-day programme, founded and run by artists, features exhibitions, performances, publications, screenings, workshops and seminars —as well as one-day symposium —responds to the increasingly nomadic nature of artists and artistic practice, questioning “how we live together in a global community”.
The project began in Vienna in 2003, then carried on to Los Angeles and is now in Berlin, where the theme this year is ‘The Imperceptible Self’, it will be documented in texts and contributions to be published in the third edition of ELSE – The Journal of International Art, Literature, Theory and Creative Media.
Events to look out for include:
A conversation about how “we live, work and think in the space between the no longer and the not yet” called Encounters, with Julieta Aranda and Elise Lammer, on August 5.
Unveiling opens with an arrangement of texts published online on June 16, followed by a weekend of sporadic interventions and intermittent ‘events’, which will unfold as “points of concentration” exploring how artistic space becomes visible or withdrawn within the space of language.
Artists have been selected based on their relationship to the “intersection of writing and objects” and the event not only launches Jupiter Woods’ new publishing practice but a new programme of performance-based residencies, exhibitions and happenings “carefully fluctuating between the public and private, displayed and withdrawn”..
Berlin’s HORSEANDPONY is hosting some kinda poetry, an evening of poetic presentations on January 20.
Limited details are given on the event page but the idea of a series of individual “poetic presentations” sits interestingly in a context between poetry readings and solo shows.
