Andrea Crespo presented solo exhibition Joined for Life at New York’s Downs & Ross, which opened March 19 and is running to April 23, 2017.
The New York-based artist is presenting new work across two venues of the space that includes sculpture and installation, as well as a bi-hourly screening of their first feature film parapagus (2017).
In addition, Crespo has written an accompanying text that openly ‘explains’ their position towards a ‘plural identity.’ Unpicking the relationship between self and others, and the relationship we have with ourselves, they include intimate and generous statements about their specific experience, with sentences such as “I’ve spent most of my life wishing to be normal, if not downright despising my psychiatric and neurological divergence.”
