jj18 (aka Justin Swinburne) is releasing debut solo album jj’s prayer via London’s Houndstooth label on March 23, along with a premiere of music video ‘here w u’ on AQNB today.

The Berlin-based, Los Angeles-born producer and artist is best known for his 18+ collaboration with Samia Mirza, where the bi-coastal duo made sultry R&B and trap-inspired collages of found sounds, accompanied by eerie montages of miscellaneous imagery lifted from the internet. For jj’s prayer, Swinburne carries on this tradition, combining personal and sourced footage for the cataclysmic setting of ‘here w u.’ Distorted bass lines and a subtly pitched-up vocal create a sense of internal conflict, which is then externalised through a collection of images, from FX break downs of action drama Let Me Survive to video inside a small plane flying from mainland Norway to the arctic circle shot by Swinburne himself.**
