The installation consisting pigmented plaster sculptures, neon lights, woven tapestries and large-scale painting, addresses the Tbilisi-born, New York-based artist’s central concerns in the “transitional state of today’s world” of an as yet unknown future and fragility of “all possible paradigms, notions or values are conditions.”

The physical nature and interdisciplinary approach of Mindiashvili highlights the liminal space of its “in-between, temporal conditions,” questioning the mechanisms of our perception. Here, architectural and natural elements outline the “fluid, cyclical nature of the universe and attempt to capture a physical experience of an ever-flowing present — of the ‘here’ and ‘now.’**

Levan Mindiashvili’s HERE solo exhibition was on at Mestia’s Georgian National Museum, which ran July 30 to September 10, 2017.
