Lukas Hofmann/Saliva presents Enzyme at Paris’ Galerie Frangulyan on May 19.

The Berlin-based artist will present an immersive group performance that sits somewhere between a “therapy session and a model presentation.” The event will bring together a number of artists, including collaborations with fashion stylists Juan Corrales and Laëtitia Gimenez, set design by Bianca Tanchay and music by Simon Thiebaut. Inspired by the decay of a dead whale, the work will explore detachment, desensitization and anxiety:

when a whale dies
bacteria and enzymes break down its organs into gases
the form bloats

the whale falls through water
like a piece of architecture
to the bottom of the ocean
into an abyss
to turn into an ecosystem
to become a world
that provides for deep-sea organisms
for decades.
