Parker Ito is presenting solo exhibition live from the capitol records b.– i am not a human i am a disgusting piece of shit at Los Angeles’ Château Shatto, opening September 1 and running to November 5.
The press release comes with an intimate letter of sorts to the gallery that is hosting him:
“…….do you remember my last show?
i am not having an opening, nor am i having a closing.
it has been hard to keep what i am doing hidden from you, but soon you will find out…….”
An Instagram post by Château Shatto co-director Liv Barrett says there will be no opening or closing for the show, while describing it as one made up of several installations, changed entirely at unknown intervals within a two month period: “The gallery is not privy to the pacing of these adjustments, or any of the works in advance of their installation.”
Ito is a Los Angeles based artist who works across installation painting and web-based projects. Recent exhibitions include The Heart is a Lonely Hunter (2015) at Yarat Contemporary Art Space and The Grand Orpheus Highway (2015) at La Plage, as well as one reviewed by aqnb at Smart Objects in 2014.
