Loney Abrams and Johnny Stanish are presenting joint exhibition So much dirt but not enough soil at New York’s Knockdown Center, opening July 9 and running to August 7.

The collaborative duo, who also run curatorial initiative hotel-art.us, will present an array of consumer products-as-art objects in a show exploring “the relationships between an object’s outward appearance, and the object’s intrinsic material makeup”, some of which will be exposed to the elements, in the three separate rooms (one without a roof) in the century-old stone building.

An extensive accompanying text draws parallels between food presentation and consumption —with its ingredients list, its nutritional value, its metadata, and art presentation— and art consumption —with its title, date, dimensions, materials, a press release —placing “the ethical burden on the consumer to make the right choice”.

See the Knockdown Centre website for details.**
