Printed Matter is celebrating LA writer Beau Rice‘s first book, Tex, with a book launch and reading at the NYC space on February 26.

Described as an “experiment between the epistolary and the ectype”, the book is gleaned from 18 months of gchats with friends, strangers, lovers and colleagues, transcribed into a “performance act in print”. And like most self-reflective modern writing, Tex explores the transformations that technology has brought about in relationship-formation and sustenance. In particular: “the paradoxical space between isolation and connectivity, profoundly expanding the possibilities for how and with whom we create intimacy”.

The structure serves as both the site and means of exploration, punctured by “walk-ons by various interlocutors” and “metonymic displacements, grammatical violations and verbal spillage”. The launch will also feature special guest Masha Tupitsyn, a writer, critic and multi-media artist.
