From December 7 to 31 la Gaîté lyrique presents a comprehensive program with installations, exhibition, artist conferences, performances, screenings….
“Post Digital Monsters” is the main exhibition everything revolves around. A vast, central group show that presents international contemporary artists (AJ Fosik, Nina Braun, Ben & Julia….) that work in different media: sculptures and installations in wood, glass, metal, fibreglass, plastic, stone, clay and knitted wool explore the idea of a haptic transfiguration of digitally inspired images.
Missing Link
A gallery of ancestral portraits premieres the newest generations of contemporary characters, while a series of video installation also features the Missing Link Project, an open investigation into the visual mystery of the legendary Yeti, Big Foot or Abominable Snowman. As a true pre-digital monster, this iconic species between fiction and science is possibly the last character of our time without a clear depiction.

There’s still a loooong way to go before Pictoplasma 2012 takes Berlin for another animation rave, so in the meanwhile the organization & Parisian digital arts centre Gaîté Lyrique have teamed up to bring the festival to the French capital next month.
