↓ FRACT
You may think that many web designers & artists have been exploiting all the 8-bit & retro game styling lately, and in the case of FRACT it’s nearly impossible not to think about the TRON omnipresence from the last 2 years, but Richard Flanagan has quite a long & solid trajectory in this trend…
Fract was selected amongst this year’s Student Showcase winners @ the Independent Games Festival, and we can see why. Described as “an atmospheric adventure game set in an abstract forgotten world of analog sounds, samples and glitches” it’s been in development since last summer and in beta release since last December.
The player is presented puzzles from a first person perspective, much akin to the classic Myst titles but with an electro twist. In order to unlock the inner workings of this strange world the player must revive forgotten machinery while keeping a keen ear and eye out for clues.
So you can currently download the first version either for MAC or PC and try this sound puzzle world which will certainly delight those “hardcore retro-centric” gamers, but not only.
